Ingram Stuart Van Kooten, 43, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2026. He was born to Stuart and Sandra Van Kooten on December 27, 1982, in Denver, Colorado, during the historic Blizzard of ’82. The youngest of six children, Ingram grew up in Denver surrounded by a lively and loving family.
As a young child, he earned the nickname “Diaper Man,” as he could often be found running around the house in nothing but a diaper, goofing off and making everyone laugh. Ingram was a sweet, happy-go-lucky kid who had a gift for making the people around him smile. His childhood diet famously consisted of Kit Kats, sprinkle donuts, and French fries.
During his high school years, Ingram was active in both football and baseball, earning All-State Honorable Mention in baseball. He graduated from Denver Christian High School in 2001. After graduation, he took a gap year to care for his family, helping support his father following a serious motorcycle accident and his mother during her treatment for pancreatic cancer, before attending Universal Technical Institute in Orlando, Florida.
After completing his studies, Ingram returned to Colorado and worked at Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson on County Line Road in Denver. During this time, he reunited with his high school sweetheart, Emily Davis. The two were married on September 10, 2011, and together built a beautiful life and family. They were blessed with two children, Everleigh and Eli.
Ingram later worked for Eagle Waste recycling company and then drove for R & L Carriers. He eventually joined his brother-in-law Jeff at Republic National Distributing Company, delivering wine and spirits. While there, he proudly earned second place in the company’s Truck Rodeo, finishing just behind his brother-in-law.
After many wonderful years in Colorado, Ingram and his family moved to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where he worked at the port delivering shipping containers. A few years later, their family grew again when they adopted their beautiful daughter, Emery.
Although Ingram’s life was tragically cut short, his years were filled with deep love for his family. He loved riding his Harley whenever he could, playing endless games of catch in the backyard with his son, sitting through countless ballet recitals to support his daughter’s passion for dance, watching Friday night movies with all three kids snuggled on the couch, and cheering on the Colorado Avalanche.
Ingram loved Jesus, and his faith carried him through the hardships of life. He became a member of Christ Church Presbyterian in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and he never remembered a day without Christ as his Savior and Lord. He deeply loved his wife and children, but those who knew him well also knew that his first love was his mother.
Ingram is survived by his wife, Emily Van Kooten of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and their children, Everleigh, Eli, and Emery. He is also survived by his father, Stuart Van Kooten (Sherry) of Loveland, Colorado, and his siblings: Stephanie Lenderink (Jeff) of Pella, Iowa; Tiffiny Carrington (Ron) of Smithers, British Columbia; Ian Van Kooten (Cherie) of Dallas, Texas; Isaac Van Kooten of Pella, Iowa; and Sara Tasker (Kinny) of Castle Pines, Colorado; Mother-in-law Janet Davis (Don), and Father-in-law George Davis (Jan).
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Van Kooten, and his grandparents, William Robert and Angeline Dorothy Monsma, and Paul and Gertrude Lucille Van Kooten.
A viewing will be held on March 20, 2026, at Olinger Chapel Hill in Centennial, Colorado, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on March 21, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at First Christian Reformed Church of Denver, followed by a graveside service at Olinger Chapel Hill in Centennial at 2:30 p.m.
A reception will follow at the South Metro Firefighter Union Hall, 67 Inverness Drive E, Unit E, Englewood, Colorado 80112.
While his family grieves his loss deeply, they take comfort in knowing that Ingram is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.
