Jean Filbert, 96, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2022 at her assisted living residence where she lived for the past three years. Jean was born Jean May Bohm in Denver and was a long-time resident of the Littleton area. She is the last of her immediate family, which included a twin sister, June Thomas, and older brother, Harold Bohm. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Parks and Sherry LaBeck, and grandchildren, Morgan Briskey, Cristin Miles and Tracy Parks.
Jean was a private, down-to-earth person with a pioneer spirit. In her youth she lived with her family in the mountains and enjoyed riding horses. During WWII she worked in a factory assembling airplane parts. Growing up she enjoyed cowboy books and stories and in 1946 she met John Filbert at a barn dance. She said she thought he was a cowboy because he was wearing cowboy boots. She soon learned he was not a cowboy but still married him in 1947. She was a hard worker, helping her husband build and remodel houses over their 48 years together. They enjoyed gardening and growing unusual house plants. She was a loving, stay-at-home mother and after raising their daughters she became employed with Littleton Public Schools as a bus driver for 10 years. Jean was also a league bowler for several years and had excellent scores. One of her great accomplishments was hiking the Grand Canyon with her twin sister and two friends at the age of 67. After retirement she and John liked to spend the winters in the warm weather of Arizona. Jean always said she wanted to live to 100 and she got very close.
