John C. Zwiers, 81, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at The Denver Hospice in Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and four children, Mark Zwiers, Douglas Zwiers, Jeffrey Zwiers, and Stephanie Zwiers. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Ashlee, Kimberlee, Kristen, Gregory, Andrew, and William. John C. Zwiers served as a military chaplain in the United States Army for twenty years. He retired on February 28, 1981, as a Lieutenant Colonel receiving numerous career medals including the Bronze Star Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. Subsequent to serving in the United States Army, John C. Zwiers worked twenty-two years at the United States Postal Service and finally retired on September 30, 2015. His funeral service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Monday, November 7, 2016, at 1:00 pm.
