Margery C Huffman

In her early years, Margery’s family moved frequently before settling in Englewood, Colorado, in 1942, when her father enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She graduated from Englewood High School in 1947 and later attended business school.

At the age of sixteen, Margery met Homer Huffman, who became her husband and lifelong companion. They were married in 1950 and shared 62 years together until Homer’s death in 2012.

Margery was a passionate golfer, and a proud member of the Applewood Ladies Golf Club as well as a charter member of the Fox Hollow Ladies Golf Club. Her love of sports also included bowling, softball, and loyal support for the Denver Broncos. She formed lifelong friendships that grew from each of these communities. She was never one to sit still and was driven by an energy and determination uniquely her own.

Margery cherished her family, her cousins and the joy of family gatherings. She delighted in reconnecting with her Englewood High School classmates and served on many reunion committees over the years. An avid photographer, she captured the world through her lens, creating many albums filled with the people and moments she treasured. She lived life to the fullest—a true force in her own way—guided by curiosity and heart.

Margery was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Huffman, and her grandson, Nicholas Huffman. She is survived by her son, Fred Huffman and Maria Schopen of Colorado Springs; her daughter, Diane Argo and Dave Argo of Glenwood Springs; and many nieces and nephews who will remember her with affection.

The family extends its sincere gratitude to Denver Hospice and to the supportive neighbors whose care and kindness meant so much.

Margery’s spirited presence will be missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 864 S. Nelson Way, Lakewood, on April 4th, from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.
