Maureen Ann (Rooney) Gilbert, age 67, of Denver, Colorado passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020. Maureen was born February 5, 1953. She is preceded in death by her son, Jeremy S. Gilbert and her parents, June S. and Robert O. Rooney. She is survived by her husband, Steven D. Gilbert; children, Brandon J. Gilbert, Bradley D. (E.S.) Gilbert, Renee K. (Don) Sullivan and their children Gabriella, Natalie and Jackson; siblings, Garry (MaryAnn) Rooney, Kevin (Joanne) Rooney, Denise (Michael) Clodfelter, Owen Rooney and Brian (Tracy) Rooney; and other loving family and friends.
Maureen Gilbert was born in Chicago, IL. She graduated Homewood Flossmoor High School Class of 1971. She attended Colorado Women’s College, during which time she met the love of her life, Steve. They had many travels and adventures over their 46 years of marriage, not the least of which was raising four children. Maureen loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was proud to complete an A.A. in Paralegal Studies from Arapahoe Community College and worked as a paralegal for several years. She wrote a book to help people document their medical information, enjoyed traveling, gardening, photographing sunrises, and volunteering with Operation Christmas Child, food banks and many other church activities. She loved her Lord, Jesus Christ and we have comfort knowing that she is with Him now and no longer in pain.
The funeral service will be held at 10am Monday, July 13, 2020 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary and Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd., Centennial, CO, 80121. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held onsite immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Maureen’s name to either of these ministries: Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone NC 28607, and Redemption Church, 2801 Antler Road, Gillette, WY 82718.
