

She was born in St. Francis, KS on April 16, 1924 to her parents, William and Alberta Zuege. She attended Haigler High School (Haigler, NE). She moved to Denver with her two sons, Cliff and Milton in 1952. In 1964, she moved to Phoenix, AZ, where she met and was married to Fred Romano, the love of her life for more than 30 years.
She is survived by two brothers, Calvin Zuege and Allen Zuege, and two sisters, Mildred Stute and Kathy Waterworth, three sons, Cliff Stockmyer (Susan), Milton Stockmyer (Susan) and Robert Romano (Becky) and daughter, Loraine Grandt (Robert); 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many more loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Fred Romano), two brothers (Herman Zuege and Lloyd Zuege), daughter (Madeline Zundel) and a grandson (Daniel Stockmyer)
Maxine was very active in the Moose Lodge, Phoenix, AZ, serving as the Deputy Grand Regent of the Women of the Moose for the year 1989-1990. She also was very a very active member of her church in Phoenix, Christ Church-Lutheran.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Olinger Chapel Hill, 6001 S. Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 2:00PM, also at Olinger Chapel Hill.
