

Merritt, a resident of Prairie Creek Living Center in Strasburg, CO, passed away peacefully at The Denver Hospice in Aurora, CO. He was born in New Raymer, CO and attended school through the eighth grade. He was proud to receive his GED after attending Jefferson County Adult Education in Lakewood, CO.
Merritt farmed in the Fort Morgan area until 1952 when he moved his family to Denver. He worked as a carpenter for several years and as a cabinet maker for the Jefferson County School District. Merritt was an entrepreneur in the field of small engines and saw sharpening.
He was one of four children born to the late Paul and Bertha Nickerson-Gneiser and was the beloved husband of Irene Feyerherm for over 61 years. Merritt will forever be remembered by his loving sister, Elloise, beloved children, Loretta, Esther, Millie, Ruth, Henry and Wayne; numerous grand and great-grandchildren, caring in-laws, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him. Merritt loved listening to gospel and Christian music.
Merritt touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, December 20, 2010 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S. Colorado Blvd. Littleton, CO 80121. A reception will follow the service at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 6322 S. Lakeview St. Littleton, CO 80120.
