

Mildred “Mimi” Tupper, age 75 of Denver, passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2026. She was born on March 17, 1951, in West Virginia to parents Andrew and Claire Knox. Mimi was also the proud great-granddaughter of Philander Chase Knox, Secretary of State under President Taft.
Mimi attended St. Mary’s Academy and the Randell School of Denver for high school. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1968, a full year early! She then studied at Ottawa University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in music; specifically the pipe organ. She was a passionate musician and vocalist which extended into watching musicals! Favorites included Phantom of the Opera, Mama Mia and classic Disney musicals. Mimi also enjoyed playing bridge and was active in her Centennial Bridge Group.
Mimi was strong in her faith and love for Christ. She was a life long member of the Lutheran Church where she raised her 2 beloved daughters, Michelle and Lisa. She was also active in the choir, played organ and the hand bells. In her professional life, Mimi lead a successful career working as a long-term case manager for many insurance companies – most recently MetLife, where she retired in 2004 after 20 years of service.
Mimi will be deeply missed by her daughters Michelle Kaufman and Lisa Tupper; her brother Gary Knox; as well as many dear friends she enjoyed life with. Mimi was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, Mimi requested that donations be made to the St. Joseph Indian School in South Dakota.
A visitation will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church (ELCA), 4500 E Hampden Ave, Cherry Hills Village, CO 80113, US, on May 14, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at the same location from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A committal service will take place at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121, US, on May 14, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
