Born in St. Joseph, Missouri to Dr. Lloyd James Thompson and Jessie Evans Williams Thompson Troxell.

Graduated from the University of Missouri in 1944 with a degree in journalism.

Worked as a cryptographer during WWII. Worked in advertising journalism for 5 years at the Denver Post.

Married Jack (Tip) Tipton in 1946 and moved to Colorado.

Survived by 3 children Scott (Martha) Tipton, Anne (Jim) Hunt, and Susan (Jim) Thompson. Along with 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, with one on the way.
