Neal was born on March 24th, 1959 in Lombard, IL. He graduated from Montini Catholic High School where he excelled in and loved playing sports of all kinds including football. He married the love of his life, Valyn “Val” Winholt on February 14th, 1981. Nine months later, they welcomed their first child, Michael James, in November 1981, Christopher in 1984 and Jason in 1986. Neal enjoyed his work in the hospitality industry for a variety of restaurants. He later worked in the telecommunications industry for Century Link Communications.
Neal’s hospitality roots stayed with him throughout his life as a great cook, the best host and “life of the party”. He was a wonderful storyteller, who shared stories that often “grew” as he told them over the years. Neal was dedicated to his family, always passionate about his love of sports (particularly the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears) and never shied away from sharing his opinions about the state of the world.
All services will take place at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary in Centennial, CO. Public visitation is scheduled on Friday, November 10th from 5-7pm with additional viewing on Saturday, November 11th at 1pm. Neal’s “Celebration of Life” will take place at 2pm with a reception immediately following.
