Paul Nelson

Capt. Paul Nelson was born on September 28, 1942 to the late Charles and Leoci Nelson in Alabama. Paul grew up in Alabama. Paul received his Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry from Tuskegee University in Alabama. His received his Master’s degree in Psychology from Ball State University in Germany. After Paul received his Bachelor’s degree, he married the late Georgia Nelson and went directly to Officer’s Candidate school for the United States Airforce, as he enrolled into the military. Paul traveled to many places including overseas. While in the military, Paul served as a supervisor for the avionics mechanics department and then later as a contracts specialist. Paul served his country for over 20 + years and then retired with the military. Paul could not stay away from the government because he went right back to work for the federal government, working for the Bureau of Reclamation. Paul somehow found time to go to ministerial training school at Azusa Ministries, where he became an ordained minister. Paul traveled to Kenya, Africa where he helped establish a ministry training school there. Paul also found time to open his own counseling business called Braview Counseling Services. Paul always found time to stop and talk to most people wherever he went, to minister to them about the Lord. Paul was never able to go into a store without finding someone to minister to or to counsel. In Paul’s spare time, he enjoyed spending multiple hours exploring nearby Costco stores.

Paul departed this life on November 30, 2021. Paul was preceded in death by his late wife Georgia Nelson, of 46 years. Paul leaves to cherish his children: Son, Paul Nelson Jr. of Peoria, AZ.; Son and Daughter-in-law, Eric and Vivian West of Bakersfield, CA; and Daughter and Son-in-law, Yvonne and Derek Johansen of Aurora, CO.

His Grandchildren: Paul Anthony Nelson III of Texas; Zach Nelson of Peoria, AZ; Brandon Nelson of Peoria, AZ; Michael West-Washington of Minot, North Dakota; Tristan West (Deceased); Eric West Jr. of Bakersfield, CA; Samuel Johansen of Aurora, CO; and Sarah Johansen of Aurora, CO.

His Great-grandchildren: Tristan West Jr. of Bakersfield, CA; Nivea West of Bakersfield, CA; Treasure West-Washington of Bakersfield, CA; and Trinity West-Washington of Bakersfield, CA.

His Siblings: Terry Nelson of Florida, Donald Nelson of Ohio, Eugene Nelson of Michigan, Nathan Nelson or Alabama, and Shirley Humphries of Michigan.
