Paula was born on June 14, 1953, in Denver, Colorado, to John and Evelyn (Gauthier) DeFoe. She grew up in Denver and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. On March 1, 1986, she married the love of her life, Ron Kitzman, and together they shared 33 wonderful years of marriage.
Paula devoted much of her life to her family. She was a proud stay-at-home mom, while selling House of Lloyd for many years, and then worked as an office manager for two dental offices
Nothing brought Paula more joy than spending time with her daughters, sons-in-law, and especially her grandchildren. She attended every event she possibly could, cheering them on with endless love and pride. As long as family or friends were there she was up for any game or adventure. Her friends and family knew she was never more than a phone call away and always ready for a long, heartfelt chat.
Paula loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping and quiet time by a river. She and Ron cherished time spent at their second home in Alton, Kansas, where they embraced small-town life, made dear friends, and enjoyed many peaceful days fishing together.
Known for her warm spirit, Paula truly knew no strangers. She was a positive, loyal friend to many and loved organizing gatherings that brought family and friends together. In recent years, she lived at Paramount Garden Apartments, where she formed many new friendships and enjoyed visiting with everyone she met.
Paula is survived by her two daughters, Cinnamon (Phil) Cain of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Molly Jo (Donald) Campbell of Lakewood, Colorado; four beloved grandchildren, Jakob and Addison Cain, and Evelyn and Jackson Campbell. She was also survived by her bonus grandchildren, Maddy and Elton, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Kitzman; her parents, John and Evelyn DeFoe; her brother, Don DeFoe; and her sister and brother-in-law, Linda Olson and Randy Kitzman.
Paula will be remembered for her joyful heart, her love of family, and the way she made everyone feel like a friend.
