Ray Schmier was one of those rare souls who carried a heart far bigger than this world could ever deserve. He was kind in a way that didn’t need attention, caring in a way that felt safe. Ray had a special gift, he always made sure the people around him were okay.
Ray wasn’t just present, he was all in. He was the biggest kid in the store, always ready to laugh, play, tease, and make memories that will live on far beyond today. He had a way of keeping you on your toes while also making you feel protected, loved, and never alone.
Ray also loved my mom in all the ways she needed to be shown love. They truly took care of one another, filling each other’s cups when one was running low, standing beside each other through both the ordinary and the hard days. He always knew exactly how to make her laugh and smile, and he made sure to do it as often as he could. Their love was gentle, genuine, and deeply rooted in friendship, care, and understanding.
Ray could walk into a room and somehow make everything feel lighter. His humor, his warmth, his playful spirit, he brought comfort without trying and joy without effort. His heart was bigger than most people ever realized, and those of us lucky enough to truly know him were blessed beyond words. Ray left a mark on our lives that time can never erase.
His love, his laughter, and his presence will continue to live on in the stories we tell, the memories we hold, and the love he gave so freely. You will be deeply missed, Ray.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
