In Loving Memory of Rudolph Eldor Hubin

October 15, 1947 – February 9, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Rudolph Eldor Hubin, who left this world peacefully on February 9, 2025, surrounded by love and family. He was 77 years old.

Born on October 15, 1947, in Nashville, Tennessee, Rudy grew up in an Army family, traveling the world with each new posting. His formative years took him across Europe and Japan, instilling in him a lifelong love for adventure, culture, and the thrill of discovery. Those early experiences shaped his curiosity and gave him a perspective on life that he eagerly shared with others.

During high school, Rudy developed a passion for music and track and field. An accomplished trumpet player, he also earned the nickname “The Red Flash” for his speed on the track and his signature red hair.

Rudy’s life changed forever when he went on a blind date with Clara, whom he later described as “love at first sight.” After an extended long-distance relationship, Rudy and Clara were married on October 15, 1977—his birthday, a date he said would be impossible to forget!

In the years that followed, Rudy and Clara built a loving home and welcomed two daughters, Laura and Sarah. He delighted in exploring the outdoors with his family, always ready to capture the beauty of nature with his camera.

Rudy worked tirelessly to provide for his family as a draftsman, with a career that spanned multiple fields. His most cherished role was at United Launch Alliance, where he was part of the propulsion team, contributing to the design and success of the Atlas rocket. He took great pride in his work and loved sharing his projects and accomplishments with his family.

In retirement, Rudy found immense joy in becoming a grandfather to Avery and Jordan. He cherished every moment with them, whether playing the piano, showing off his model car collection, or simply making them laugh.

More than anything, Rudy loved being surrounded by his family. A natural storyteller, he brought life to every gathering with tales of his adventures and experiences. He thrived in the warmth, laughter, and love of these moments, drawing strength from the closeness of his family.

Rudy was a man of quiet strength, boundless kindness, and unwavering devotion. His greatest pride and joy was his family, and he filled our lives with endless love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He had a gift for bringing people together and finding beauty in everyday life.

Rudy is survived by his loving wife, Clara; his daughters, Laura and Sarah; his son-in-law, Scott Wondrasch; his cherished grandchildren, Avery and Jordan; and his brother, Randy and his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eldor and Ida.

Though we will miss him dearly, we carry his love and lessons in our hearts, finding comfort in the countless memories we shared.

Rest easy, Dad. We will love you always and forever.

Burial services will be private for the family held at Olinger Chapel Hill, with a celebration of Rudy’s life planned for a later date.
