Ruth was born on September 12, 1941, one of five children who were raised on a farm near Milaca, Minnesota. She married her grade school sweetheart and love of her life, John Oss, who preceded her in death five years prior. Traveling with Johnny in service to the United States Air Force, she became the strongest and most beloved mother to five boys, moving the family across the country between Minnesota, Ohio, Texas, Florida, California, and finally, Colorado. She was passionate in her Christian faith, family, and friendships, dedicated to the Optimist Club, and among her many domestic talents, she was best known for her home-style cuisine as well as rising to the lutefisk and lefsa-making Norwegian Christmas traditions of the Oss family.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Caroline and Charles Bolz, one brother, Charles Bolz, and her sisters, Marie and Norma. Ruth was cherished by all, including her brother Steve Bolz and her five sons, Mark (Evelyn), Carl (Cheryl), Eric (Carrie), Ivan (Deirdre), and Hans, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the most wonderful and proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren, including Ellen, Amie, Caroline, Brandon, Anja, James, Olivia, Jordan, Isabelle, Harvey, and Harrison, as well as Gigi to three great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Sophie, and Carson.
