Born October 25, 1941 to Erik Hjalmar and Maurine Maurer Persson, Sigrid was raised in Hamilton, Ohio. She graduated from Hamilton High School and Otterbein College.
On August 22, 1964, Sigrid married Thomas Ernest Sharp, a fellow Otterbein student. After Tom’s service in the Air Force, together he and Sigrid ventured out to start a new life in Colorado. They were married for nearly 60 years!
Sigrid relished her time with family at the cabin in Hall Valley, hiking in the mountains with a dog by her side, and building campfires by the river. Her friendships were genuine, rich, and long-lasting. Endlessly optimistic, Sigrid frequently reminded her loved ones that we create our own happiness.
On top of mothering her own children and so many others in her community, Sigrid was never idle, but she always worked in jobs that allowed her to prioritize her family above all else.
Sigrid Sharp is survived by her three children and their spouses, Erik (Kim), Wendy Compton (Curt), and Grady (Dena); six grandchildren, Kailee, Kelsee, Ashley, Cate, Calvin, and Brigid; her sister, Karen Whalen (Jack); and her sister-in-law, Nancy Alderman (Grady).
Sigrid and her positive spirit are more present than ever, and she will be dearly missed.
The funeral will be held at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121 on September 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception.
