Tom was born on January 1, 1946 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Robert and Marguerite Dillon. He grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado and went to Grand Junction High School where he met his beautiful wife, Janet, and then went on to Mesa Junior College in Grand Junction. He and Janet went on to Utah State University and then were married on December 30, 1966.
He was a respected leader in the telecommunications industry, helping shape its growth and direction up until his last day and also served in the National Guard.

Tom is survived by the love of his life, Janet; two sets of twins Christina (Kevin) Stolpmann, Gina (Cory) Lambert, Beau (Nicole) Dillon, and Justin (Pennie) Dillon; and his eight grandchildren: Courtney, Paige, Jake, Jordan, Ella, Ashley, Melanie, and Bailey.
