Thomas James “Tom” Roll lived an incredibly full life before leaving this world on May 1, 2024 at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his wife of thirty years, Daisy Roll, daughter, Melissa Crossman and daughter-in-law Cindy Roll.
Born to Bernice and Eugene Roll on March 27,1936, Tom grew up in Detroit, Michigan, as the youngest of three siblings. He served in the Air Force Reserves and earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Wayne State University. While at Wayne State, Tom joined the Tau Kap-pa Epsilon Fraternity and served as President of his Chapter.
Tom spent much of his professional career in the consumables medical field, working for Warner Lambert and Aseptic Thermal Indicators (ATI). In 1990, Tom and a partner founded SteriTec Products Inc., a medical device manufacturer based in Centennial, Colorado. The company started small, but grew and was sold 22 years later to Getinge Group, a global medical technology company based in Sweden. During his career Tom considered his international distributors his friends and his employees family. Tom enjoyed hosting monthly luncheons at SteriTec, as well as an annual company picnic, and Christmas parties where he appeared as a variety of characters, including Elvis and the Indian from the Village People.
Outside of his career, Tom loved to play golf, and was a member of the Plum Creek Bandits and the Pinery Country Club. He enjoyed fishing trips in Alaska, a game of bridge and hosting an annual Avalanche hockey outing. Always adventurous, Tom and Daisy traveled the world together and were especially fond of cruising. They toured several countries in Europe, as well as Australia, Egypt, and Israel. The pair loved to throw parties, including an annual Super Bowl party, complete with betting.
Tom loved dogs, and had several over his lifetime, including Ted E Bear, a Bichon Frise, the “best dog he ever had.” He was an avid reader, had a great interest in politics, world events, and sports. He read the newspaper from end to end and completed the Sudoku puzzle with his morning coffee every day.
Above all, Tom will be missed for his generosity and kindness, his sense of humor, and the way he was always there for his family.
He is survived by his son Kevin Roll, daughters Lisa Maloney (Michael), Lori Schuster (Dale), and Pam Butler (Pete), as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 8th at 11:00 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary and Cemetery – 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, Colorado.
