William Richard Sims (Bill), passed away Wed. July 23, 2014 at Autumn Heights Nursing Home where he had been a resident for 11 months. He was born on May 26, 1926 to Mathew and Ethel Sims in Tahlequah, OK. A few years later they moved to the Fair Grove, MO area.
He married Frances Wommack on Sept. 15, 1947. In June of 1950 they moved to Denver, Colorado where Bill learned his drywall trade. In March of 1951 their son Gary Daniel was born and in April of 1956 their son Randy Mac was born.
In 1958 Bill rededicated his life to God and served him faithfully from that day forward. Serving God was the most important thing in his life. For many years he was a faithful and active member of Littleton First Assembly of God. One of the ways he could serve in the church was with his time and expertise in the many remodel jobs on the church building. He later became a faithful member of Family Worship Center. He continued to offer his expertise in the area of remodeling and had valuable information since both churches were at the same location.
After retiring from the drywall/texture trade he was always available to help when he could to assist his friends and family in their remodel projects. He was continually doing a small job for someone who didn’t have the funds to do a necessary repair on their homes.
On June 21, 2013 his life drastically changed when he suffered a stroke and had to leave his home of 46 years and move to a nursing facility.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Frances and two sons: Gary (Kathy) Sims of Burlington, CO and Randy (Leslie) Sims of Denver, CO; four grandchildren: Matt (Adriane) Sims, Erika (Ryan) Duke, Nathan (Des) Sims and Phillip Sims. Also eight great-grandchildren: Lexie, Brinley & Lakyn Sims; Witten, Maclin & Porter Duke and Yasmine and Zoe Sims. Also Sisters Vel Sizemore and Carolyn Stapp. Along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathew and Ethel (Kimble) Sims, and sisters: Maxine Sims, Betty (Bob) Carter and Sue Tettleton.
Services will be Friday, August 1st, 11:00 at Family Worship Center, 6395 South Clarkson St. Centennial, CO 80121. There will be no visitation. Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, Centennial, Colorado.
