Carolyn Gomez

Carolyn L. Gomez died in Hartford January 8, 2026. She was born March 23rd,1943 in Westerly, Rhode Island to William Hamm and Sylvia Hamm (nee Smith). She was raised in Essex, CT by her Mother and Stepfather, Arthur McNally, who adopted her in 1951.

Carolyn graduated in 1961 from the Walter G. Cody High School in Middletown, CT. She worked in a series of administration positions in the credit union industry. In 1963 she married William Gomez, whom she divorced in 1969.

Carolyn lived and worked in the Hartford area for many years. She moved to Ithaca, New York to be near to her son and grandson. It was in Ithaca that Carolyn had her happiest employment experience, working at the Greenstar Cooperative where she found a true community with her coworkers and customers.

Carolyn was predeceased by her son, Shade (nee Richard) Gomez, and her sister, Diane. She is survived by her grandson Kono Carragee of Washington, DC, her brother Russell McNally of Deep River, CT, her sister Doreen Frye of Vermont, brothers Russell Hamm and Jeff Hamm of Texas, cousins Linda Whinnem of Stonington, CT and Leith Riley of Westbrook, CT, nephew Cory McCall, Niece Kelly Frye and great nephews Nicholas and Brian McCall of Vermont.

A memorial service will be held privately with the family.
