Joanne Elizabeth Bradford

Joanne Elizabeth Bradford, (Jody), 98 of Middletown, Connecticut passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025. She was born on November 10,1926 in Sioux City, Iowa to parents, Clarence Eugene Schwarz (Jack) and Doris Lichtenstiger.

Jody graduated in 1948 from the University of Indiana with a BS degree in industrial engineering. It was at University that Jody met her husband to be William G Bradford, (Brad). They were married on March 25, 1950 .

Jody and Brad traveled the globe with the Foreign Service from 1953-1979. They were stationed in Germany, Italy, Washington, D.C., Viet Nam, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Sierra Leone. Their last post was in N’Djamena , Chad where Brad served as the American Ambassador. When Brad retired from the Foreign Service they settled in Mclean, Virginia .They lived there until September 2023. In retirement, Jody ran a successful import-export business in couture buttons and trims.

Jody was preceded in death by her husband, Brad, (1925-2008), and is survived by their three children, Deborah Hornbake, Kate Fiala and Bruce Bradford. She has five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
