

Born on November 9, 1946, Charlie was raised in Ferriday, Louisiana, where he spent his early years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend—affectionately known as “Gramps” to those who loved him most. He spent his career working as a skilled welder, taking great pride in his craft and the work he accomplished over the years. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Susan Wimberly.
He is also survived by his children, Dawn Conrad Beckham, husband David and Andy Wimberly; and by numerous cherished grandchildren: Josh Conrad, wife Brandi, Brett Conrad, wife Holly, Van Shannon, wife Caitlin, Colleen Brown, husband Blane, Lawson Wimberly, Cody Fisher, Hailey Wimberly, Jordan Wimberly, and Raina Landry. He was the proud great-grandfather of 21 great-grandchildren.
Charlie is further survived by his brother, Robert Wimberly, and sister-in-law Pam, along with many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LA Wimberly and Helen Hornsby Wimberly; his brother, Cary Wimberly and sister in law Patricia; and his grandson, Taylor Conrad.
Serving as pallbearers are Dylan Shannon, Jace Conrad, Trae Conrad, Beau Conrad, Colin Hatcher, Josh Conrad, Brett Conrad, and Van Shannon.
Charlie was a dedicated member of Local 198 for over 50 years and a faithful member of Grace Presbyterian Church for 40+ years. He was known for his generosity and service to others, often sharing his talents through his special love of woodworking.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Services will be held at Central Funeral Home, Chapel, 9995 Hooper Rd, Central, LA 70818, on April 20, 2026, from 9:00 am to until the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Plains Presbyterian Memorial Gardens, 1650 Plains-Port Hudson Rd, Zachary, LA 70791, US, on April 20, 2026.
