Todd Duane Denham entered this world on December 21st, 1970 and departed to his heavenly home on February 15th, 2024.
Todd was a lifelong public servant, as well as a father, brother, and friend. He served most passionately as an advocate for the mental health of his community, as he departed this life working as a nurse specializing in psychiatric care.
His passion for serving others is only a small fraction of the legacy he leaves behind. Those left to cherish this wonderful legacy are his children, Baeleigh Louise Denham, Ashton Denham Galbo and husband Andrew James Galbo, Adleigh Claire Denham, and Ava Grace Denham. Todd was also a proud grandfather to Harper-Layne Cavin, and soon to be born Liam Paul Galbo. He is survived by his partner, Melissa Dugger. He is survived also by his dear siblings, Tara Shaffer and husband Darryl Shaffer, Terry Little and husband John Little, Sarah Jackson and husband Jason Jackson, Callie Tranchina and husband Brett Tranchina, Jeff Rogillio and wife Jamie Rogillio, Debra Gauthreaux and husband Tommy Gauthreaux, and his parents Duane Denham and stepmother Dorothy Denham, and Fran Lewis and stepfather Lee Lewis. He was also a proud uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Todd is preceded in death by his dear brother, Brad Denham.
Todd was most proud of his accomplishment and honor to service in the United States Marine Corps, where he served from January 23rd, 1990 to January 22nd, 1998. He was honorably discharged holding the honor and title of Sergeant Todd Duane Denham from the Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 332, Marine Aircraft Group 31 where he served as an Aviation Ordnance Technician. He would later return home to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he worked as an Emergency Medical Technician, a Firefighter, and ultimately as a Nurse. He graduated from the Baton Rouge General School of Nursing in December of 2009 with a diploma of nursing certificate as an RN, then later completed his Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady School of Nursing in May of 2020.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Blackwater United Methodist Church, 10000 Blackwater Road, Baker, Louisiana on Friday, February 23rd 2024 from 9:00am-11:00am. The funeral will begin at 11:30am, with a graveside burial to follow, officiated by Reverend Kennon Pickett.
Our family would like to extend our most sincere gratitude to the Baton Rouge Mental Health Community for their continued support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Louisiana Chapter, an organization Todd held dear to his heart and was extremely passionate about serving.
“God speed, Marine - may you have fair winds and following seas; our dear departed brother. Until we meet again- Semper Fidelis.”
