My Deepest of Condolences to the Hoveland Family. I remember your family as a child growing up on Huson Dr. Your family was one of the kindest and know that's because of your parents. May God Bless you all during this time and know prayers are strong from me to yours.

I wIll truly miss Earl, my neighbor and best friend for the last 7 years. I only regret that I don't have a single picture of the two of us together. However, I have lots of wonderful memories to take with me wherever I go.

Earl was my second father and the Hoveland clan my extended family.  I got to go on many family boat vacations because Jackie hated the boat and I loved it and got to go along to keep her company.  Skiing was always with the Hovelands - to White Pass and Sun Valley!  As an adult my family frequently had dinner at the Packwood cabin on ski weekends.  Earl and I did not discuss politics but otherwise he was a great father figure and a good friend - hope Alice was waiting for you with open arms and that Mom and Dad (Audrey and Larry), Helen and Hank Cook, and Rose and Jake, amongst many others, were at the welcoming party.  I feel like your death ended an era and I will forever miss you and your Stan Kenton music playing softly in the background at the cabin. Our deepest sympathy to the Hoveland family. Very sorry to hear of his passing. Since selling our cabin down the street in 2008 our weekends have never been quite the same. We will never forget the generosity Earl and Alice gave us. Earl was always a huge help whenever we needed it. Earl's commitment to Alice when she was failing is still etched in our minds. Our go to pharmacy when growing up in the North End. Fond memories of the VW delivery bug pulling up to our house. Once when my dad was ill, he was prescribed a brand new drug. Earl drove the prescription himself to our house and apologized for the high cost of the new medication. Said he filled it at his cost with no markup. Class guy. RIP

My deepest condolences to the Hoveland family. I have many fond memories of visiting Uncle Earl & Aunt Alice over the years. we would stop by after visiting Dad at work at the Big 6 service station up the street, I remember mom reaching up to push the little white buzzer to get in the back of the store and how excited we would be to see them.   I remember the little garden on the house boat and catching bullhead from the dock.  He will surely be missed, and remembered fondly.
