Ruth Reed

Ruth Reed, 92, of Morton, Washington, passed away surrounded by her loving family on February 21, 2016, at Heritage House in Morton. She was born at Dutch Mills, Arkansas, on November 22, 1923 to Sam and Artha Mae Self. On May 15, 1943, Ruth married the love of her life, Frank Reed, at Anderson’s Resort, in Watts, Oklahoma. They were blessed with four children, Connie, Gary, Ron, and Bo.

Ruth was employed at Morton General Hospital for 19 years as a Food Supervisor. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and sewing; most of all Ruth cherished spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank; and brothers, Clarence, Kenneth, and Delbert. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Connie (Richard) Sokol; sons, Gary (Sue,) Ron (Geralyn,) and Bo (Bobbie) Reed; grandchildren, Bob Sokol, Gina Working, Gwen Reed, Brad Reed, Scott Reed, Stefanie Riggins, Crystal Humphrey, Jim Reed, Karrie Hein, and Veronica Rogers; 13 great grandchildren; one great- great grandson; brother, Elvin; and sisters, Furn Gordon, Pauline Carbaugh, and Vauline Hall.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday, followed by a funeral at 11 a.m. at the First Church of God, 1251 Main Avenue (Hwy 508,)in Morton, with a graveside service to follow at Morton City Cemetery. A reception for those not attending the graveside will follow the funeral at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Mortuary Service, Morton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to the Church.
