

Dale Allen Black passed away on March 3rd, 2022 at his home in Eoline, AL. He was born October 30, 1933 at Fort Hayes, Columbus Ohio, to Lewis and Gladys Black. He graduated from Clark Air Force Base Dependents High School, Philippine Islands, in 1951 and joined the United States Air Force the next day. He began his career in the weather service while in the Air Force and participated in the Bravo test of the Hydrogen Bomb on Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands in 1954. When he left the Air Force in 1955, he joined the National Weather Service. His career with the NWS took him from the mouth of the Mississippi River where he manned the forward weather/hurricane station in Burrwood, LA, to Lake Charles, LA, to the Joint Arctic Weather Station and eventually brought him and his family to Eoline, AL where he served at the WSR-57 National Weather Service Radar Facility.
Dale married Edith Tarver in 1955 and they had 53 years together. They were active in Brent Baptist Church for years and Dale was active at Friendship Church in Pondville at the time of his death.
Dale is preceded in death by his wife, Edith T. Black, his parents Lewis and Gladys Black and his sisters Sandra Beverly and Bonnie Hansen.
Dale is survived by his sons Terry Black (Paula) and Tony Black (Carol); by his grandchildren Stephanie and Ben Black and his step grandson Chris Breland; and his brother Kirby Black and his sister Sherbie Tollefson.
Graveside services will be held at Pineland Cemetery on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 2pm
