Daniel "Mad Dog" Houston Bracknell, age 82, of Woodstock, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Mad Dog was born February 9, 1940 to Willie Bracknell and Effie Lou Elam Bracknell of Brent, Alabama. He retired from US Pipe as a Millwright after 30 years. He was a member of Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church in West Blocton, Alabama. He loved to fish, hunt, whittle and bird watching. He spent most of his free time watching his favorite Westerns.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patsy Ruth Blacknell; son, William Dan Bracknell; brother, John Henry Blacknell; and brothers-in-law, Olan Johnson and Watson McCray. He is survived by his daughters, Dedra "Dedy" Posey (Ernie) of Rainbow City, AL and Dean "Willie" Harris (Keith) of West Blocton, AL; grandchildren, Daniel Posey and Zack Harris; brother, Larry Bracknell (Linda); sisters, Sue Bracknell Johnson and Jackie Bracknell McCray; sister-in-law, JoAnne Bracknell; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Head.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Terri Vinning, Elizabeth Hope and Amedysis Hospice for their compassionate care.
A visitation for Mad Dog will be held Monday, September 26, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Rockco Funeral Home, 805 Birmingham Rd, Centreville, Alabama 35042. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 11:30 AM at Little Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Eoline, Alabama. Elder Wayne Crocker will officiate. Attire is casual.
The family requests any memorial donations be directed to the Flower Fund at Little Hope Primitive Baptist Church.
