Dorothy Jane Carter

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Jane Carter, who was born on August 15, 1940 and passed away on March 20, 2025. Dorothy was a beloved member of her community and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

During her life, Dorothy was a caring and dedicated mother to her three children: Ken (Brenda) Carter, Ricky Carter, and Susan (Al) Dailey. She was also a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren and a proud great grandmother to eight great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Ellis Carter.

Dorothy was one of thirteen siblings and her family ties were a source of great joy and strength throughout her life. Her hobbies included cooking, fishing, gardening, and taking care of everyone in the family, which showcased her nurturing spirit.

Dorothy will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering love for her family, and her strong sense of faith. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Carter, Josh Carter, Tim Carter, Bryan Barr, Danny Crocker, and Eddie McElroy.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from Sardis Baptist Church in Marion, AL at 2:00pm with Rev. Gervis Smith officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and burial will take place at Sardis Baptist Cemetery following the service.
