Evelyn Breland Hughey

Evelyn Breland Hughey passed away after a short illness on February 14, 2025, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She is survived by her four children, Arnold W. (Sue) Hughey, Jr., Joseph M. (Karen) Hughey, Rebecca Hughey Holtzclaw, and Stephen A. Hughey. Her immediate family of eleven brothers and sisters includes a surviving sister, Jean Breland Griffin and brother, Milton (Patsy) Breland. Evelyn was the grandmother of six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Wilford Hughey, Sr. She was the daughter of Percy Morland Breland and Etoyle Aultman Breland.

Evelyn was born in North Perry, and she lived in Perry County all her life. She was a clerk with the Farmers Home Administration for 23 years until retirement in 1994. After retirement she enjoyed traveling to forty-nine states. She attended Siloam Church and was an avid book reader and bridge player.

Visitation and fellowship will be from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm February 22, 2025 at Siloam Baptist Church in Marion to be followed by the Memorial Service at 1:00 pm; 505 Washington Street, Marion, Alabama 36756. Burial will be at Ephesus Church Cemetery in Sprott, Alabama.

Pallbearers; Arnold Hughey III, Brandon Hughey, Paul Hughey, Shane Holtzclaw, Dustin Holtzclaw, and Gordon Crocker.
