James Roland Smith

James Roland Smith, born on June 12, 1960, passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 65. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

James was preceded in death by his father, James Ray Smith; his mother, Sadie Magdalene Chapman; and his beloved wife, Margaret Ellen Smith. He is survived by his children, James Smith and his wife Denise, Brandon Smith, Bridget Aeromino and her husband Kevin, and his honorary son, Johnny "Bubba" Smith. He also leaves behind his sister, Patsy McElroy and her husband Ricky, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Brianna, Bailee, Cataleya, Aurelia, Scarlett, and Levi.

A man of many interests, James loved spending his off days by the river, whether it was river fishing, hunting, or shark fishing at the beach. His dedication to the lime plant, where he worked for over 25 years, was a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment.

James Roland Smith will be remembered for his warmth, dedication, and the joy he brought to his family and friends.

A memorial service for Roland will be held Sunday January 25, 2026 at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Lawley, Al beginning at 2pm.
