Jean B. Pounds, 92, passed away on May 2, 2026. Born July 7, 1933, Jean was a beloved and cherished presence whose steady faith, patient spirit, and kind-hearted generosity left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
With compassionate care and a thoughtful way of noticing what others needed, Jean lived with a selfless devotion that made people feel welcomed, valued, and remembered. Even in life’s ordinary moments, her gentle humor could brighten a room, offering comfort and ease when it was needed most.
Jean dedicated more than three decades of service to West Blocton High School, retiring after working over 30 years there. Through that long and faithful commitment, she became someone others could depend on—reliable, considerate, and quietly generous with her time and attention.
For 56 years, Jean was married to the love of her life, a partnership marked by loyalty and devotion until his passing in 2011. She was deeply devoted to family, holding close the bonds that mattered most and giving of herself with a steady, compassionate heart.
In her personal time, Jean found joy in crafting, reading, and every manner of puzzle and card game—pastimes that reflected her patience, warmth, and the simple pleasure she took in sharing time with others.
Jean’s faith was central to her life and guided her with calm purpose. She often expressed it plainly and memorably in the words: “Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil, it has no point.”
