Juanita Meigs (Arnold) Owings

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother that will be sorely missed. She is survived by her husband, Joseph (Joe) L. Owings PD of Centreville; sons, Bryan (Becky) Owings and Patrick (Christine) Owings of Tuscaloosa; sister, Dianne (Billy) Lippeatt of West Blocton; and grandson, Ben (Sierra) Owings of McCalla.

Joe and "Mrs. Nita" enjoyed 64 years together in marriage. Born in West Blocton, Alabama, she graduated from West Blocton High School and later graduated from the University of Montevallo. She worked for the State of Alabama for over 20 years, first as a social worker and later as a regional Medicaid supervisor. In retirement, she volunteered for many noble causes and charities.

Nita had a huge heart and was full of compassion for others. She was also a good listener, and understood when people just needed to talk. She had many hobbies involving arts, crafts, cooking, and gardening. She always had pets and loved them like children. She was a member of Brent Baptist Church where she and Joe taught Sunday school classes for many years together.

A visitation will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Brent Baptist Church, 2446 Main St, Brent, Alabama, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM. Everyone is welcome.

A private committal service will be held at a later date at Schultz Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Brent Baptist Church, Schultz Creek Baptist Church, or your charity of choice.
