Shirley Laverne Gothard

Shirley L. Gothard passed away on August 18, 2024, at the age of 79 in her home surrounded by her family. Born on December 17, 1944, in Belle Ellen, Shirley was known for her sweet, loving, caring, and humorous personality.

Shirley cherished her time with family, a hobby that brought her immense joy throughout her life. She was also an avid crocheter and a passionate fan of Alabama football, sharing many game days surrounded by friends and family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Lou Nelson, with whom she now rests in peace.

She is survived by her daughters; Cristie Gothard (Donnie), Pam Gothard (Paul), Michelle Gothard (Terry); her grandchildren; Kelsey Powell (John), Jade Carroll (Trent), Jayla King, Devyn Valdes and Maggie Valdes; and her great grandchildren; Beauwen Cummings, Paisley Cummings and Corbyn Valdes. We will all hold dear the memory of her warmth and laughter.

The Rockco Funeral Home in Centreville, Al is handling the arrangements. Shirley's life will be celebrated and remembered for the love and joy she spread to all who knew her on Thursday, August 22, 2024 12:00pm at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
