Clementina Rovelo Vides passed away peacefully on Monday, December 25, 2017 at the age of 91. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she touched in some way throughout her life. She was the cherished wife of 48 years to Gustavo Vides. Daughter of the late Jose Rovelo and Antonia Moncada. Loving mother of Gustavo Vides (Iracema) and Alfredo Vides (Lidia) and Daisy Patorno (Mike). Proud grandmother of Gustavo Vides, Marvin Vides (Jackie), Jonathan Vides, Joseph Cruz, Michelle Roques (Kenneth), Gustavo Vides (Valerie), Jennifer Vides (Paul), Allison Vides, and Daniel Vides. Great grandmother of Isabella Vides, Graciela Vides, Valentina Vides, Ariana Cruz, Javier Cruz, Emma Roques, Kayson Roques, Samantha Vides, Percival Vides and Sofia Aragon. Clementina was born in Honduras, where she was raised by her grandmother, Vicenta Moncada along with her favorite cousin / sister Emma Sequeira. In search of a better life for her family, Clementina and her husband left Honduras with their children and moved to the United States. She settled in Chalmette, LA where she was a longtime resident. She loved and embraced her grandchildren and ultimately raised three of them. She always wanted to keep them with her! She proudly became a US citizen in 1997. She loved everything about flowers: planting them, stealing them, and growing them. She had a gift for sewing and enjoyed making clothes for her family out of material that she loved. She loved shopping at Macy's, enjoyed chambre, her Rumpopo, coffee with lots of sugar and never took “no” for an answer. She was fond of the gatherings of friends and family, never wanting us to leave, not even for work. She loved sharing stories and memories about her grandmother and family. Breakfast with Javier, “her son,” early in the morning was never to be missed. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and family, loved Popo, and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by us all.
