

Deborah Jane Jackson celebrated seventy-five (75) blessed years of life. She was the beloved, proud, caring and supportive mother of two (2) devoted sons: Maurice (Moe) Jackson and Willie (Will) Charles Jackson.
Born January 26, 1951, in the City of New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Mary L. B. Jackson and John W. White, Sr.; she was the sixth (6th) child of eleven children, seven girls and four boys.
Deborah Jane Jackson made her transition from this life to a place of eternal rest on Sunday, March 01, 2026, leaving behind the cares of this old world, yet a life, legacy, and history of varied memories to those who loved and knew her.
“Queenie” as she was affectionately known by nickname to family and close friends, often referred to herself as, “Ms. Aquarius”, and would let everyone know that she celebrated her birthday the whole month of January, just in case they didn’t know.
She was raised in a Godly home; and attended several family churches over time: St. Rose Baptist Church, as a child; The Sanctify Church under the leadership of Pastor/Ms. Daisy, as a teenager, and was affiliated with Third Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church as a young adult.
Deborah received her education at Thomy Lafon Elementary School, L.E. Rabouin Vocational High School (Nursing Program), G. W. Carver High School, and Southern University at New Orleans.
She began her employment at the Charity Hospital of New Orleans, in the early 1970s, as a clerk/administrative assistant in the Department of Medical Records. She was later promoted to supervisor; she served dutifully in that Department and in the position of Supervisor for over twenty-five (+) years, before medically retiring in 1998 due to major health conditions.
Queenie was a jokester—she loved to tell jokes whether funny or not; she could tell a story and tale with a straight and believable face. She loved playing softball; and, played softball with the Desire Housing “Soul Sisters” softball team, under Coach John Cook, with the support of her mother and sponsor, the Late Johnny Jackson, Sr.
She celebrated a life of longevity filled with the love, joy, strength and support of family and friends, children and grandchildren, neighbors, co-workers, and supporters.
She leaves to cherish her memories and legacy, her pride and joy, in the person of her two (2) sons: Maurice Jackson (Adrienne) and Willie Charles Jackson (Walidah); Seven (7) grandchildren: Mauricia Jackson; Chasity Jackson, Jayda Buxton, Ja’Wil Jackson, Jalen Jackson, twins Ayria and A’Miri Jackson; also, one (1) great grandchild, Liam Marshall.
She also leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by five (5) siblings: four (4) sisters: Dr. Victoria Washington, Nancy Jackson-Williams (Charles), Elder Mary L. Jackson, Cheryl A. Jackson-Hightower; and one brother, Robert Lee Jackson (Lisa); her favorite, loving, caring and special niece, Kim Fly-Finch (Zatic), bestie and closest friend, Ms. Jean Griffith, her daughter Dominic and family, play-friends of Shreveport Patricia Sprinkle and Brittany Mahoney-Skinner, and a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three (3) brothers: Larry Jackson, Terrell (Terry) Jackson, and John W. White, two (2) sisters: Margaret Jackson Fields and Roberta Fly, one (1) grandchild the late Maurice Jackson, Jr., and her favorite and loving nephew Luther Rene Randall.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service in her honor will follow at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to eternal rest at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to extend a personal invitation to the employees of Medical Records of the Medical Center of Louisiana (formerly named Charity Hospital of New Orleans), DOTD Crescent Connection, Sheraton Hotel, as well as employees of New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center of New Orleans, Technology Dept. and all friends, associates, of Deborah Jackson and family.
