Donald Michael Diodene Sr.

Donald Michael Diodene, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the age 67. He was married to his high school sweetheart and love of his life Betty Colombo Diodene for 45 years. Loving and devoted father of Donald Diodene, Jr. (Shannon), Brian Diodene (Stacy) and Cory Diodene. Son of the late Ethel Loupe Diodene and Emile S. Diodene, Sr. Brother of Emile S. Diodene, Jr. (Sheila) and Ronald J. Diodene (Sara). Brother-in-Law of John C. Colombo (Brenda), Dwayne Colombo (Delaney) and Tricia Colombo Rudolph (Robby). Proud grandfather of Kaylee, Brianne, Olivia, Mason, Gabe, Evan and Victoria. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Donald’s sons and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus # 5747, past Faithful Navigator and 4th Degree Member of Assembly # 2181. The Knights of Columbus and the Louisiana Crawfish Festival were near and dear to his heart. Donald spent hours helping make it a success year after year. He was a former parishioner of St. Mark’s Catholic Church and a member of the St. Mark’s Marksmen. Donald also belonged to the Chalmette Alumni Association. He was skilled millwright worker and was employed by Domino Sugar Refinery for 13 years and retired from Lockhead Martin after 24 years of service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 6:00 PM – 9PM and Monday, July 21, 2014 from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in St. Roch Cemetery, No. 1, New Orleans, LA.
