

Doris Alphonso Kestler, age 91, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015. She was a native of New Orleans and a long-time resident of St. Bernard. Mrs. Kestler was the wife of the late George E. Kestler and the former wife of the late Anthony Licciardi, Sr.; mother of Angelina “Angie” Kestler (George), Eve “Evie” Wolfe (Blair), Janet Johnston, and the late Anthony “A.J.” Licciardi, Jr.; daughter of the late Eva and Peter Alphonso; sister of the late Earl, Lloyd, Claude, Eunice, Ruth, and Gertie ; grandmother of Toni Ann, Denise, Georgie, Tony Joe, Earl, Stephen, Jamie, Jay, Terry, Rusty, Lance, Staci, and the late Steven, Trey, Janet Lee, and Peri great-grandmother of Brittany, Alexa, Trent, Evan, Aubrie, Blair, Reagan, Amanda, Warren, Emma, Hayden, Mia, Anna, Ella, Olivia, Josh, George, Linsday, Robyn, Janet, Lee, and Jeremy. She is also survived by an abundance of, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kestler retired from Hotel Dieu Hospital after 23 years of service. She was a highly talented seamstress who was known for her great love of Mardi Gras. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.. A Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Mrs. Kestler will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
