Doris Katherine Maitrejean

Doris Katherine Doyle Maitrejean passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the age of 77. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in so many ways throughout her life. She was the cherished wife of 57 years to Eugene G. Maitrejean. Loving mother of Pam M. Theady (Eddie), Eugene G. Maitrejean Jr. (Kay), Larry D. Maitrejean (Malin) and John B. Maitrejean (Heather). Daughter of the late Lawrence and Myrtle Helmer Doyle. Sister of the late June Tyrrell, Lawrence Doyle Jr. and Calvin Doyle. Proud grandmother of Dominique & Chaz Theady, Meredith & Madelyn Maitrejean, Anders & Colin Maitrejean and Chloe & Kate Maitrejean. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Doris was a native of New Orleans, LA and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish where she was active in the St. Bernard Council on Aging. She also served as past President of Community Park in Arabi and enjoyed sharing her skills as a volleyball coach. She was well loved and will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who loved spending time with her friends and treasured her family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, April 7th from 10:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
