It is with loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Elaine P. Vicknair, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left us at the age of 83. Widowed since 2006, she carried her family with strength, grace, and unwavering love. Her life was a testament to devotion — her greatest joy was her family, and she treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was their biggest supporter, warmest hug, and most dependable source of wisdom and encouragement.
Elaine had a vibrant spirit and a heart full of joy. She loved going to bingo, playing cards with friends and family, and trying her luck at the casino. If there was music playing, you could be sure she would be dancing or singing along at karaoke. She truly was the life of the party — her laughter filled every room, and her energy was contagious. She had a well-known sweet tooth and never turned down a dessert. Whether gathered around the table sharing treats or relaxing at home watching her favorite movies, she found happiness in life’s simple pleasures.
Elaine is survived by her daughters, Karen K. Creel and Kimberly K. Dwyer; her grandchildren, Kyle Krantz (Pamela), Amanda Creel, Jennifer Ducote (Wesley Hall), Ashley Bailey (Brad Bailey), Brittany Ducote, Lauren Dwyer (Tristan Schlottmann), Katelyn Krantz and Joseph Creel; her great grandchildren, Bradyn, Mia, Jett, Rhett, Avery, Caleigh, Rori, Aria, Brad, Bentley, Blayne, Brees, Charlie and Jordyn; her brother, John P. Platz Jr., and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin M. Vicknair; her son Stanley J. Krantz; her grandson, Kevin Krantz; her parents, John P. Platz Sr. and Magdalene M. Platz.
Her legacy lives on in the strong family she nurtured, the traditions she created, and the countless memories she leaves behind. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, laughter, and vibrant spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace, forever dancing, singing, and smiling down on those she loved.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. VIRTUE ST., Chalmette, LA on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 9:00 AM- 11:00 AM. A service will begin at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
