Fannie A Smith

Fannie A. Dobronich Cruz Smith passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the age of 97. She was the cherished wife of the late Homer Smith, and by previous marriage, the late Joaquin “Joseph” Cruz. Loving mother of Carmen M. Santa Cruz. Daughter of the late George and Stella Dobronich. Sister of Vincent, Michael, George, John, Sidney Dobronich, Mary Catalano and Helen Boudet. Proud grandmother of Kurt J. Ruiz (Carmen), Shannon R. Matrana (Camile) and Danica R. Favre (Jamie). Great grandmother of Britt S. Ordes, Dexter Matrana, Michael K. Taylor III, Morgan Matrana, Oilvia Ruiz and Beau Favre. She is also survived and fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Fannie was a native of Buras, LA and a longtime resident of Arabi, LA, finally settling in Waveland, MS following Hurricane Katrina. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by her family and by all those whose lives she touched. Special thanks to the entire staff and Therapy Department of Dixie White House Health & Rehab Center in Pass Christian, MS for the excellent care, love, kindness and support you gave to our precious mother / grandmother during the past two months. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, June 19th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
