Fr. Frank had recently moved to our parish in Metairie at Our Lady of Divine Providence.  I truly loved listening to him give the homily.  He had a way of breaking the readings down and explaining them so clearly.  RIP Fr. Frank! Your will be missed by many.

I was blessed to know Fr. Frank through a few different avenues in my life......wrestling, CYO softball at the field in Violet, and fishing.  The biggest blessing I received from him is that he was gracious enough to come to Pensacola and be a co-celebrant for my wedding 21 years ago.  He was a great man and I send my condolences to his family.  May you rest in eternal peace Fr. Frank.

Fr. Frank will always have a place in my heart as he was my priest and wrestling coach during my younger years at IHM. He was a loving man who took time to take me/classmates camping and just outdoors and played a huge role in the person I am today! Had a special way to motivate me to do positive things with my life, He will forever be missed and never forgotten!

I was an alter boy at st roberts when father frank served  there . He was such a great person and mentor I will always  remember our many camping and hunting trips he took us on all sitting crammed into his black station wagon while towing the green wooden trailer.   what great memories such fun times you will be greatly missed sir....I am sure you will find everlasting  peace and God will not hold against you telling all those ghost stories to us while camping on the grounds at the seminary   : )

Knowing how good he was to his own family, it's not surprising to read all the stories of how many folks he helped and how many lives he touched. My deepest sympathy to Fr Frank's entire family. I was saddened to learn of his passing. I was blessed to be in Fr Frank's parishes for over 30 years. First in OLL on St Bernard Hwy & then under his direction, together our parish built a new church in Violet. My son was baptized there, was an altar server & made his confirmation at OLL in violet.  Following hurricane Katrina my family settled in Slidell.  When we heard that Fr Frank (the crock pot) & Fr Kyle (the microwave) were assigned to OLL in Slidell we became parishioners right away. Each weekend after Katrina Fr Frank gave me homilies to use in my daily life. I could not have gotten through those dark days without his encouraging words. My youngest son was confirmed at OLL in Slidell & Fr Frank married my son and daughter-in-law a few years ago. Happy memories! I could go on & on. It was due to his encouragement I started to volunteer for a few organizations & thank him for his words which guided me to start. Such a special Pastor for many years. He will be missed immensely! My sincere condolences to the Lipps family. Father Frank was a wonderful priest and counselor. He married my niece and her husband, he baptized their daughter, and he said my brothers funeral mass with an especially meaningful homily   I know he is with Our Lord.

I first got to know this wonderful person on Sunday's at our lady of Lourdes in St. Bernard parish.  I later worked for him cleaning the Priest house and the rectory of the church . He was more then just the father of our church he was a father to all who knew him.  He left a Hugh mark not only in my life but in the lives my children . He was a amazing  mentor to all of the young people of my family as well as the children in our parish.  He did so many wonderful things for me and my family to say thank you would not be enough. With a very sad heart and tears running down my face I said goodbye to  you Rip in Peace Rev. Msgr. Frank Joseph Lipps Jr.

Enjoyed sermons from Father Frank at Our Lady of Lourdes in Violet. My husband always said you could tell when the fish were biting by how quick the service was.  He was a wonderful man.  Our sympathies to his family.

Elaine, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your brother. I know he had been sick for a good while and that you helped to take care of him. God bless you! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Although our family is sadded by his passing, we know he had his arms open wide in joy to meet the Lord.  He kept us all humble in that last year or so as we watched him struggle up the altar steps, dragging that tank.  We all wanted to help -- but Father Frank always wanted to do for himself.  Without a doubt, he helped our family get through a very challenging time and lent his authority and concern to make our situation bearable.  He will be missed.

I was in Goretti CYO in the 70's Fr Frank let us be kids if we messed up and did something stupid he would just tell us now you have to fix it. I'll never his rule about hunting if you kill it you eat it rip Fr Frank

I will always have great childhood memories of Fr. Frank. He was a great mentor, coach and all around good guy.  I had the privilege to talk to him a couple of times while he was in residence at OLDP,  it brought back so many memories.  May he rest in peace.

Father Frank baptised  two of my grandchildren , he also did my son's funeral services with Father Kyle , loved him, he was a blessing  to my family.

Father Frank baptized our daughter, Ashley, at St. Angela Merici Church in 1968. He was a classmate of mine at Jesuit, class of 1960. May he rest in peace.

Father Frank Lipps was one of the greatest men I have ever known.  He always made time for the youth, and did his best to help us find Christ.  I firmly believe he is one of the main reasons I found Jesus.  Father Frank and I disagreed on who was better between Holy Cross and Jesuit (it's Holy Cross), but it never stopped him from involving us.  Beach trips, learning to shoot shotguns, church softball and flag football, Astroworld, and the Baptism of my son...Father Frank thank you for everything.

DEAR FATHER FRANK, WE HOPE YOU REST IN PEACE. YOU HAD SUFFERED SO MUCH. (HEALTH WISE) I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU. YOU PREPARED BRANDON AND I FOR MARRIAGE.

Father Frank will always hold a special place in my heart.  My becoming a catholic was strengthened by his love and support.  Your influence in my life is something I will never forget.  May you rest in peace and enjoy eternity with God! Until we meet again - Love You!

Fr. Frank was there for me and my family when my sister, Christine, died suddenly in 1997. I called him and he listened to me and offered to preside at a funeral mass for my sister at Our Lady of Lourdes in Violet. He even arranged for one of the choir members, Joyce Becker, to sing at the service. It was the closure my family needed, especially my sister's two children. My sister had never been to Our Lady of Lourdes but Fr. Lipps treated her as a parishioner.  I will always be grateful for his act of kindness in a time of profound sadness and emotional distress in my family.  I will remember him always. May he rest in peace.

Remembering Fr. Frank in my prayers and I will offer the Office of the Dead for the repose of his soul.  May God bless him for his many years of service to the people of God. I am personally grateful to Fr. Frank because it was thorough his ministry that I was baptized 40 years ago.

Fr Frank was a huge part of my childhood at St Matthias.  He was a coach, a mentor, and a friend to me many of my classmates.  I was so lucky to have had him in my life at that time.  My deepest condolences to his family and friends.  He was truly one of the good guys.

Fr. Frank "Chief" I will always remember you as my mentor and the single biggest influence on my life today.  I have a lot of memories of camping hunting fishing but most of all, your true compassion and advice in the sacristy before mass was always something I will cherish for life.  RIP chief you  made me into the CHAMP I am today.

Fr Frank was a wonderful man and friend.  He took Kenny Jr fishing many times, even though they came back with no fish, he was a good friend to all who knew him.  He was a great priest and held the attention of many when he spoke.  He will surely be missed by all who knew him.

FrFrank will always remain in my heart. He has helped my family in more ways than I could ever express to people. He never wanted reward, thanks or praise for what he had dedicated his life to do for Our Father. Fr Frank's simple needs were a surprise and an example to all those who experienced his generous nature. I will never meet another Priest like Fr Frank but I will remember him for the rest of my life.

May you rest in the peace, and in the love, and in the glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We thank you for your unending devotion, service and friendship during your time at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Westwego and throughout your life.

Father Frank was like a dad at school for the Alter boys and students at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Westwego in the early 70's. We had many good times with him. (Camping, Spotlight, Skiing, hunting, etc.) He will be greatly missed by all of the old OLPS gang.

I remember Father Lipps when he was a young priest at St. Robert Bellarmine parish in Carolyn Park in arabi. He was so kind. I also saw him right after Katrina in the parking lot of Walmart in Chalmette lending a "helping hand." He died at a relatively young age. He could have done much more. I give my heartfelt sympathy to his family. Rest in the peace of Jesus' arms, Father Lipps.

We will miss you dearly. Thank you Fr Frank for single-handedly helping my OLL Cub Scouts sell out of caramel popcorn each year. Your dedication to them was always so loving. Much love and  God speed.

Dear family of Father Frank, thank you so much for choosing this photograph to share with us.  This photo makes me smile and tear at the same time. Father Frank was a wonderful priest with an angler's heart.  Last Christmas Day, after morning Mass, my family was asked to procure an apple pie for Father Frank so he could take it to his family gathering.  Christmas Day!  We went in search of an open store (even drug stores) to no avail.  Upon our empty-handed return, he shrugged his shoulders and said, "Ok, But I need your help with my boats".  We spent the next 45 minutes in his garage while my husband and older son worked on putting both of his pirogues into the back of his Toyota.  My husband was not convinced that it was actually possible.  Father Frank said, "Listen to me and you will be able to do it".  He was right. :)  It was certainly a puzzle, but he knew how the pieces fit together. I recall him saying that he was giving the boats to his nephews.  Not sure who has them, but I am sure they are treasured.  I suppose you all know how often he spoke of you in his homilies.  He loved you all so very much.    So very sorry for your loss.

What a loss.  All my prayers are with you all.  I have so many fond memories of Frank during our younger years at St. Matthias.  Some even more recent.  He was looking forward to coming to our 60th reunion (class of 1956) and was the first to respond.  Our reunion will not be the same without him.
I believe Frank had a convenient memory, because whenever I would talk about the past, (going to his house, playing ball, etc.) her did not remember.
Some of our classmates and his friends would go to Mass together at Our Lady of Lourdes and walk away with a true feeling of celebrating the Eucharist at the table of the Lord.  He had a special way of celebrating Mass
He will be missed, but I know his reunion in heaven will be much anticipated.
A nun once told me: When someone dies, it is God taking one of HIs beautiful flowers from His garden to place on His table.

When you mention Fr Frank "Chief", it always reminds of the camping trips and road trips. He liked being outdoors and do not forget the "Paddle". Alter Boy for OLPS Westwego in the 70's.

Father Frank did the service for our son Shawn Edward Kilpatrick funeral. His service helped to ease the pain in Kathleen and my heart.  Father Frank was our pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes in Violet, LA.  He will be missed, but as he said a Shawn's funeral "God calls us home when our job is done on earth."   
God will hold the holy person in His hands all the way to heaven and give him the place Jesus has prepared for him.  John & Kathy Kilpatrick

Fr. Frank has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Since I pretty much grew up at the rectory, I never knew if Sunday's homily would be about me. He always keep me guessing. Fr. Frank confirmed me, married us and baptized our children. He was there for us no matter how busy he was. He was a wonderfully spirited man whom I will miss. Happy to have so many happy memories of him. Heaven has gained another angel.

He was such an inspiration and wonderful representative of the Catholic Church.

Fr. Frank was a very special part of the Cortez family for over 40yrs. He baptized myself and siblings. Also did our first communion, confirmation, coached my siblings in wrestleing, family last rites and burials. May he Rest in Peace with our Heavenly Father. May Our Heavenly Father continue to Bless him and his family forever. Much Love.

Father Frank's death is not an end as he will live on in the next generation he so gently touched. He will remain alive in many.

It was my blessing and privilege to have been the Secretary to Fr. Frank for over twenty years at OLOL in Violet. He became a very important family member and will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace, good and faithful servant. You will not be forgotten!

Fr. Frank was such an important part of our family's lives for over 25 years.  He presided over our family's weddings, funerals, renewal of vows, baptismals, etc.  He attended many family functions and was like a part of the family. He will truly be missed and was loved very much.  Be at peace with the Lord, Fr. Frank and watch over our family.

I had the privilege of knowing Father Frank when he became pastor of OLL in Slidell. He took on the immense responsibility to rebuild the church, school and other associated buildings destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. He was the focal point for the rebuilding, and did an excellent job!

I also worked with Father Frank as an usher at the 4PM Saturday Mass at OLL, when I lived in Slidell.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,

What a loss in our Catholic commmunity.
I first met Father Frank at Our Lady of Lourdes church on St Bernard Hwy . My entire family was very involved with church, so we had the pleasure of seeing him frequently behind the scenes in preperation for upcoming celebrations.
He also co-celebrated our wedding. 
Being that I played the guitar for mass, I stayed after Mass frequently to pack up and once when my son was young, he ran up to the baptismal fountain in the new church and before we could catch him, he swiped his arm right through the water. .. we were embarrassed and Father Frank just laughed and quietly bent down with a smirk on his face and asked him if that was fun?!  Then looked up at us and said, "he's as comfortable in God's house as his own." 
And I still think of him after homilies saying "God has just spoken to you, what is he saying".
Really made you think.
My sincere condolences to Fr Frank's family, he will certainly be missed.

After each homily I hear, no matter who gives it I hear Father Frank's voice say to me " God has just spoken to us, what did you hear him say ". It always made me stop and think about the message he was giving us. We send our prayers to his family. Bob and I truly miss him.

A tremendous loss.  I met Father Frank when he was becoming a priest at St Matthias Church in New Orleans back in the late 60's.  He was such a great mentor and was always there for you when you were down.  He loved camping trips and we went on many but he will always be remembered for his love of Jesus.  I lost track of him over the years and about 2 years ago I began hunting for him and found him in Slidell.  I contacted him and we had many wonderful conversations on the phone that I will remember.  I know you are no longer suffering and with your makers so R.I.P. Father as we will all meet again one day.

Fr. Frank was a wonderful pastor and friend. I'll always remember his kind leadership at Immaculate Heart of Mary church and school. I'll also always remember the outings and camping trips.

What a great priest! He did my son's communion at the old Our Lady of Lourdes Church on St. Bernard Hwy. and he baptized my youngest son in 1992 at the same church. He was the kind of priest who loved children and never needed to be fancy. What a down to earth man he was. He will be greatly missed. They just don't come like that anymore. Rest In Peace Fr. Frank. You left a incredible impression on me and my family. You will always have a place in my heart. Now you are with GOD and God is so happy to have you in Heaven.

I'll always remember what you told us at mass after you read the gospel: " God has just spoken to us... what did you hear Him say to you? " Fr. Frank, we're all so grieving for your loss, but then again, I know your pain is over. You are now with Lord Jesus, His Blessed Mother, and all the angels and saints. You were and are a loyal and faithful servant of God. You taught us so well. God rest Fr. Frank

Where do I begin?   Fr. Frank and I met 46 years ago and have been very good friends with him since then.  To me he was a great mentor and counselor.  As a late grammar and high school student, he taught me much about life.  He was a great man and Priest.  I'm going to miss him tremendously and may he Rest In Piece and God Bless his soul!
