Gerald William Vosbein Jr.

Gerald William Vosbein Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at the age of 74. He was the loving father of Gerald William Vosbein III, Mark Vosbein (Paula) and Melissa Vosbein Gros (Donald). Son of the late Gerald William Vosbein Sr. and Mary Irena Matone Vosbein. Brother of Merlin Vosbein, Chris Vosbein, Kim Mistretta (Frank) and the late Bruce Vosbein. Proud grandfather of Jessica, Megan, Victoria, Kaitlin, Hannah, Destiny, Emily and Seth. Great grandfather of Dominic, Caylee and Liam. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Gerald, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a commercial fisherman, finding joy both in his work and in leisure time spent on the water. A passionate outdoorsman, Gerald loved fishing and cherished the moments spent watching the Saints and LSU football games with family and friends.

Gerald's heart was as generous as his spirit, and he was well-loved by all who knew him. He had a special affection for animals, and the loss of his beloved dog, Raven, weighed heavily on him. He will be remembered for his good nature and unwavering loyalty.

Gerald leaves behind a legacy as a devoted father, grandfather, and brother who treasured his family above all else. He will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched. Rest in peace, dear Gerald. You will forever remain in our hearts.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, November 5th from 9:00AM – 11:00AM, followed by a funeral service in Gerald’s memory beginning at 11:00AM. Gerald will be laid to eternal rest in St. Roch Cemetery No. 1 in New Orleans, LA.
