

Glenn “Paw-Paw” Joseph Fernandez, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 27, 2026, in Walker, Louisiana, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was a long-time resident of Chalmette, Louisiana. He was born on April 29, 1946, to the late Joseph Fernandez and Marguerite Fernandez Malouse. He attended Madonna Manor and Hope Haven Orphanage for Boys in Marrero, Louisiana. Glenn was a dedicated printer by trade for more than 20 years for Fern Supply in New Orleans, Louisiana. Glenn was sincerely proud of his affiliation and accomplishments as a Scout Leader for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 84, for more than 15 years. After retiring, he enjoyed fishing, painting, crafting, and especially spending time with his six grandchildren.
Glenn is proceeded in death by his eldest son Timothy Fernandez, and his siblings Joseph, Jeannie, Lorenzo, Dolores, and Elise Fernandez. Glenn is survived by his beloved children, son Nolan Fernandez (Jennifer), daughter Rachel Fernandez Gros (Bryant), and son Clade Fernandez (Raquel). He was an amazing grandfather (Paw-Paw) to his six grandchildren Lilith Fernandez, Liam Poche, (Lynda Rost), Juniper Fernandez, Annabelle Gros, Amelia Gros, and Arik Gros. He was cherished and loved by his companion of 11 years, Rosemary Fritz, who graciously and lovingly administered unrelenting hospice care in his final years. Glenn is also survived by Jean Cortazzo and Sandra Masters, his former wives and friends. Also, survived by his dearest sisters-in-law Patricia Fernandez and Norma Duffy Fernandez, countless cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he loved deeply.
Glenn loved his family greatly and was a devoted and proud father, Paw-Paw, son, brother, uncle, and nephew, as well as a friend to all who knew him. In fact, Glenn never met a stranger. He would share his old memories enlightening all who listened. Glenn was a kind-hearted soul with a hilarious sense of humor. He will be genuinely missed and never forgotten by all who knew and loved him. Glenn is now at peace with Timmy by his side.

In accordance with Glenn’s wishes, there will be no service. In honor of Glenn’s life, the family requests any memorial contributions to be donated to Ochsner Children's Hospital.
