James Raymond Ragas

James Raymond Ragas passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the age 86. Beloved husband of Beverly Nunez Ragas. Loving father of Michelle K. Martin, Dean Martin Sr. (Michelle), Michael Martin (Pamela), Cheryl Ragas, Lori Ragas Shinn (Paul) and the late Jimmy Louis Ragas and James Ragas Jr.

Son of the late Lewis Ragas and Anna Olivier Ragas. Brother of Marie Ragas Menesses. Proud grandfather of Kim, Beverly, Dean, Danielle, Dana, Amy, Drew, Eric, Ian and Paul. Also survived and fondly remembered by 9 great grandchildren.

James was born on July 23, 1932 in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. He was a Graduate of Nicholls High School. He was a United States Army Veteran and proudly served in the Korean War. He was a G.N.O.A.L. and Diamond Club Inductee and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates after high school. He was a member of the 1961 NBC National Champions Wichita, Kansas. James retired from Murphy Oil after many years of dedicated service. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation to be held at OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will private.
