Jo Ann Ramirez

Jo Ann Hymel Ramirez was born on October 1, 1955 and joined her Heavenly Father on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the age of 59. She passed away suddenly at her home in Slidell, where she had relocated post-Katrina. Jo Ann was the beloved wife of Robert Ramirez, devoted mother of Carmen Ramirez, (Jason Swindler) and the late Robert David Ramirez, grandmother of Ariana, Ayden and the late baby Jay Swindler. Jo Ann also leaves behind her loving mother, Louise Carollo Hymel and sister Nina Hymel. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph S. Hymel, Jr., and brothers, Joseph S. Hymel, III and Louis W. Hymel. Jo Ann will be greatly missed by her many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. Jo Ann’s career began at Tenneco in 1976 where she remained until her retirement in 2013 from Chalmette Refining. Through the company’s changes, Jo Ann developed many close, lifelong friends who were near and dear to her heart. Jo Ann was a kind and beautiful lady who will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
