Joann Starr

Joann Wright Starr passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022. She was 80 years old. She was the loving mother of James “Jimmy” Starr (Karen), Scherie Starr Carlini (Jay), and Cindy Starr Sagnibene (Ronnie); proud grandmother of Nicole (Shannon), Ryan (Laurie), Courtney (Danny), Brittany (Torrie), Brielle (Ted), and Baili (Jacob); great-grandmother of Gage, Reid, Mason, Evan, Cameron, Reiss, Jayden, Ashton, and Lennon; and sister of Jean Wright Cascio (Andrew). She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late William “Billy” Leo Starr, Jr.; by her parents, the late Sara Margaret Andrews Wright and James Otis Wright; and by her sister, the late Elaine Hall Levie Fournet. She is also survived by many other relatives and dear friends.

Joann loved sewing, cross-stitch, and shopping, but was never happier than when surrounded by her family, who she loved with all her heart. She was a beautiful soul, a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be eternally missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. VIRTUE STREET, in Chalmette, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A memorial mass will begin in Joann’s honor at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
