Joyce Poumaroux

Joycelyn (Joyce) M. Poumaroux went to be with our Lord on May 27, 2023 at the age of 90. For 72 years, she was the proud wife of Irwin Poumaroux. Joyce lived a beautiful life with many joyful memories. She loved Mardi Gras and cherished her time as queen of Shangri-LA. Many will remember her for her outgoing personality, cooking a delicious meal for a crowd, and natural ability to always have a good time. She is survived by her son Johnny and his wife Merry. She has missed her daughter Durinda for the past five years but kept in touch with her favorite son in law Frank “Chick” Capella. Her grandchildren Christian Capella (Angela), Johnny Poumaroux (Ashley), and Jessica Poumaroux Province (Chris) had the honor of calling her Maw Maw and loved her dearly. She fulfilled her dream of watching her seven great grandchildren grow up; Camryn, Abbey, Valen, Jayde, Carter, Hudsyn, and Colette made her so proud. Her legacy of love, grace, and kindness will forever remain inspirational to those who were fortunate enough to share in her life’s journey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, June 6th from 10:00AM – 12:00PM, followed by a funeral service in Joyce’s memory beginning at 12:00PM. She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
