Lawrence "Larry" Francis Lohr Jr.

Lawrence (Larry) Francis Lohr Jr., age 67, passed away on April 18, 2025 after a long and hard battle with cancer. Born on August 31, 1957 and a lifelong resident of Chalmette, Larry was a true character who lived life with a big smile and never met a stranger.

Larry was a welder and pipefitter by trade, but his true passions lay in the simple joys of life. He loved spending time in nature and fishing, reveling in the spirit of Mardi Gras, and enjoying the freedom of the open road on his Harley Davidson. While he enjoyed his younger days to the fullest, Larry later became a devoted family man who still knew how to have a good time.

His proudest moments revolved around his beloved grandsons, Lawrence Francis Lohr IV and Westin Hayes Lohr, who were the center of his world. He cherished playing with them, taking leisurely walks along the Mississippi River levee, and sharing a drink and good conversation with his many friends. Larry also had an adventurous spirit, finding joy in spontaneous afternoon boat rides and long road trips where getting lost was simply part of the journey. Spending time with family and friends was always a priority for him.

Larry is survived by his children, Kristen Lohr Beckmann (Robert), Lawrence Francis Lohr III (Kayla), and Kelsy Lohr (Matthew); his grandsons, Lawrence Francis Lohr IV and Westin Hayes Lohr; his mother, Patricia Sobell Lohr; his siblings, Brenda Lohr Bell (Robert) and Linda Lohr Lachin; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Francis Lohr Sr.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation, in his honor, at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home & Gardens, 701 W. Virtue Street, Chalmette, LA 70043 on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m.
