Mary Louise “Weeshe” Melerine passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the age of 76. She was the beloved daughter of the late Camilla Campo Melerine and Ernest H. Melerine. Sister of the late Joyce Alphonso. She is survived and fondly remembered by her niece Charlene Guerra (Frank); her nephew Ernie Alphonso (Wendy); her great nephews Frankie Guerra, Ernie Alphonso Jr., Ronnie Alphonso & Darren Fradella Jr.; her great-great nieces and nephews Kacie, Collin, Aubrey & Finn; along with many cousins and dear friends. Weeshe was a lifelong resident of Delacroix Island where she enjoyed a 30-year career serving her parish through her work with the Sheriff’s Office. She was well loved, and affectionately known for her good nature and generous heart. She will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal daughter, sister, aunt and a friend of many, who kept her “boys” in line and well-fed, but treasured her family above all else. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, November 20th from 10:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 1:00PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
