Mrs. Mary Louise Goettz Smith

Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Goettz Smith, born December 15, 1928, cherished and loving wife of the late Gerald Daniel Smith, Sr., died Friday, August 28, 2015. Mary Lou was a former resident of Chalmette, LA and Kiln, MS and lived in Slidell, LA at the time of her death.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Linda Frey Harvey (Donald), John A. Frey (Shirley), Raymond J. Frey (Mitzi), and Mary Frey Giorlando (Paul). She was also the step-mother of Heather Smith McGrath (Gary), Darlene Smith Giglio, and the late Gerald Smith, Jr. (LaDonna). She leaves 10 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Catherine G. Breaux and brother Emile E. Goettz, Jr. (Joan). She was preceded in death by her parents Antoinette Compagno Goettz and Emile Edwin Goettz, Sr., and her sister Marion G. Graham. Mary Lou was blessed with a wonderful and loving family and many other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will begin in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will be held at a later date.
